ABOUT WEAVED.NET
In 1986 I was sitting on the steps of the Long Island Rail Road Station in Forrest Hills Queens with some friends. I was probably smoking a Silk Cut or
a 555. We liked smoking foreign cigarettes. We thought that it made us cooler to be killing ourselves with tobacco from abroad rather than domestic.
Sitting next to me on the steps was my friend Todd. He noticed that my red 80's jacket with large, bold, bright yellow lettering on the back was burning at the
pocket. I must have dropped some ash onto it from my exotic cigarette. I think Todd exclaimed, "Yo, yer on fire!". At this I calmly patted out the smoldering pocket, leaving behind
a silver dollar sized hole. Todd, looking at it said, "Your jacket is ruined". I looked closely at it lighting another cigarette and said, "It's all right, I'll
have it weaved". At this we broke out laughing. I never lived that remark down.
Weaved is a real word, but the more proper word would be woven. My Gradfather would say "I'll have it weaved" when he'd put a hole in a garment. I've heard others from that generation use this phrase as well. What can I say? It was their method.
So the site ...WEAVED.NET is the 'sister site" to FRANKIEBOOTS.NET. Both sites are me, Michael Dominic. FRANKIEBOOTS is also a photoblog but I don't post there as much as I used to, at least at the moment. With FB I'm constrained by the design as far as image size goes. I feel that sometimes the subtlety is lost in a small image,
so, I created WEAVED.NET so I could put up my favorite work, at a larger size, about one photo a day.
I shoot only film and never crop. I compose in the camera and what you see is what's on the negative.
NOTE: The reason the images are a different aspect ratio is because I am shooting mostly medium format, 6x6 and 6x7. I recently bought three cameras, a Pentax 67ii, Mamiya 6 and a Hasselblad 503cw.
